Grok hits different. It’s edgy, it’s real-time, and it has a personality that stands out from the crowd.
If you want that bold, unfiltered voice in your Bizreply automations, you need to hook up Grok’s API.
This guide walks you through it from xAI’s console to your Bizreply dashboard.
Getting Your Grok API Key
xAI keeps Grok’s API behind their developer console. Access isn’t automatic. Here’s how to unlock it.
Step 1: Ensure Active Subscription or Billing
Grok’s API isn’t free. You need skin in the game first, and you have three options here:
- X Premium subscription — the basic paid tier
- X Premium+ subscription — higher limits, more features
- xAI billing credits — pay-as-you-go direct with xAI
Head to the xAI Console and navigate to Billing. Check your status because no active subscription means no credits, and no credits means the API won’t work.
Purchase what you need before moving forward.
Step 2: Access the xAI Console
Fire up your browser and navigate to console.x.ai. That’s your gateway.
Sign in using your X account (formerly Twitter) credentials. Same login you use for Twitter works here. Once you’re in, the real work begins.
Step 3: Complete Developer Onboarding
First time here? xAI wants to know who you are. You’ll hit a brief onboarding flow.
Verify your information and describe your intended use case. Accept the terms of service and click through. It takes two minutes, then you’re in.
Step 4: Navigate to API Keys
Look left and see the sidebar. Find “API Keys” and click it. This page shows all your active keys. Probably empty right now, but that changes in a minute.
Step 5: Generate Your API Key
See that “Create API Key” button? Press that.
A dialog pops up asking for a name, so be descriptive here. Something like “Bizreply-Production” or “Bizreply-Main.” In the future, you will appreciate the clarity when managing multiple keys.
Configure optional settings if you want, model access for grok-1, grok-1.5, etc., or rate limits to cap your usage. Then click “Create” or “Save.”
Step 6: Secure It Immediately
The second that key appears, copy it and paste it into your password manager. Store it as an environment variable (e.g., XAI_API_KEY). Do not close that window before saving it somewhere safe.
If you lose it, it’s gone forever. xAI cannot retrieve it, and you’ll delete that key and generate a completely new one. Security works this way for a reason.
Security note: Never expose your API key in public code repositories. Don’t paste it into Slack, don’t screenshot it. Treat it like your bank password.
Adding Your Grok Key to Bizreply
Your key is locked away safely. Now let’s wire it into Bizreply.
Step 1: Open Bizreply Settings
Log into your Bizreply dashboard and scan the left-hand sidebar. Look for a gear icon or “Settings” link and click it. You’re in the control panel.
Step 2: Find the Language Model Settings
Look for “Global Mention Settings” and click it. Inside, you’ll spot “Choose language model.” See the little pen icon next to it? Click that pen.
Step 3: Paste Your API Key
A field labeled “AI Key” appears. Click inside it and paste your Grok API key carefully. Check the start and check the end. Any accidental spaces will break the connection because keys are picky that way.
Step 4: Save Your Changes
Hit “Save Changes” and that’s it. Done. Your Grok API key is now locked into Bizreply.
Rest easy: Your API key stays perfectly confidential inside Bizreply. Zero chance of leaks. The system encrypts and protects it, so you can relax.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Hit a snag? These are the usual culprits.
“Invalid API Key” Error
Copy-paste went wrong. Maybe you grabbed an extra character or missed one. Head back to your password manager, copy the key fresh, and paste it again. No quotes, no spaces, just the raw string.
“Subscription Required” Error
Your X Premium expired or your xAI credits ran out. Log into the xAI Console and check Billing. Renew your subscription or top up your credits, wait a few minutes, then try again.
Rate Limit Errors
You’re bumping into usage ceilings. Check your plan because Premium has lower limits than Premium+. Or you’re hitting the rate limits you configured when creating the key. Adjust in the console or wait it out.
Key Not Working in Bizreply
Double-check you actually copied the full key. Verify your xAI account has an active subscription or available credits. Confirm you selected the right model access when creating the key.
Still failing? Reach out to Bizreply support at hello@bizreply.co or ping them on live chat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need X Premium to use the Grok API?
Yes. Grok API access requires an active X Premium subscription, X Premium+ subscription, or xAI billing credits. There’s no free tier.
What’s the difference between X Premium and Premium+?
Premium+ offers higher rate limits and priority access. If you’re running high-volume automations through Bizreply, Premium+ is worth the upgrade.
Can I use the same key for multiple tools?
Technically yes, but practically no. Separate keys for separate tools means better security and clearer usage tracking. If one key gets exposed, you only rotate that one. The others keep humming along.
What if I lose my key?
It’s permanently gone. xAI won’t show it again, so delete the lost key from your console, generate a replacement, and update that new key in Bizreply. This is why password managers exist.
How do I monitor my spending?
Log into console.x.ai and click “Usage” or “Billing” in the sidebar. You’ll see breakdowns by key, by model, by day. Check weekly to catch unusual patterns.
Is my key safe with Bizreply?
Yes. Encryption at rest and secure transmission. But treat your key like a password anyway. Don’t email it, don’t screenshot it and share it. Keep it in your password manager and rotate it periodically.
Can I switch between Grok and other providers in Bizreply?
Typically yes. Bizreply supports multiple providers, so check your language model settings. You can usually toggle between options. Each requires its own API key, so mix and match based on the task.
